ELLIOT STREET RESIDENCE

This 18th Century house is found in the oldest part of the city. Simons Young + associates worked closely with Edgewood builders on the restoration of the interiors, working with a light hand to update the kitchen, bathrooms, and operational equipment of the house. SY+a designed an addition that allows for a family room, a library, and an outside terrace overlooking the garden. Light permeates the structure from the many windows and skylight found in the addition. A double height space at the vertical circulation brings light down to the first floor, and the walls of the historic building serve as a backdrop to the spaces in the addition.
